The Law Office of Alec M. Lewis has been helping individuals with all aspects of family law in Montgomery County since 1995. Alec Lewis has been practicing family law and other areas of law for over 24 years. Mr. Lewis is a sole practitioner. What this means is that the lawyer you meet at your initial interview is the lawyer who will handle every aspect of your case. In some larger firms, you meet and pay for the name on the door, and never see that person again as you are kicked back and forth among inexperienced associates.

Mr. Lewis takes pride in providing hands on representation, and is immersed in every detail of your case. During your first appointment, Mr. Lewis will note all of the factual background of your case, and, in most instances, provide you with at least an overview of a suggested strategy at that time. His philosophy is to try to settle your case if at all possible. A negotiated settlement is far less traumatic and far less costly than a litigated result. Even if you and your spouse (or partner, in a non marriage relationship) are in an adversarial posture, the two of you are far better equipped, with the help of competent counsel, to find a solution to your unique and personal issues than a Judge or Master. In a trial, the Court is limited by what is in the law books and statutes. In a settlement, you are only limited by your creativity, and Mr. Lewis prides himself in his ability to fashion creative solutions to unique problems.

Do not, however, misinterpret the desire to settle as a reluctance to litigate. There are certain issues, that simply cannot be settled. When those situations arise, Mr. Lewis is ready, willing and able to aggressively advocate for you in Court. He is known and respected by all of the Judges and Masters deciding family law cases in Montgomery County.

Your family law case, whether it involves the custody of your children, the termination of marriage, or both, is deeply personal to you. Mr. Lewis understands the trauma of the dissolution of a family unit and will be there for you to help you through every aspect of it. If you allow Mr. Lewis to be in your corner, you have taken the first step toward solving your family law issues in a professional, successful manner.
